Accountant - audit preparation (Birmingham, AL)

Bright Orchard Farms Group is an agricultural business based around Birmingham. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 536 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around field records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with cold storage. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Birmingham. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
