Accountant - audit preparation (Birmingham, AL)

Ironwood Mill Farms supplies farm and food customers across the Birmingham region. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 849 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field records, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around harvest schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with field records. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Birmingham, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
