Accountant - audit preparation (Baltimore, MD)

We are growing our team at Clearpath Linden Freight and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 457 people based in Baltimore. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around loads and lanes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with claims. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Baltimore. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
