Accountant - accounts payable (Wichita, KS)

Northwind Field Financial provides savings, lending and payment services from Wichita, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Wichita. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around account servicing against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with vendor spend. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Wichita. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
