Accountant - accounts payable (Wichita, KS)

Rivermark Birch Foods is a Wichita food manufacturer supplying grocers and food-service customers, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 12 people based in Wichita. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around sanitation schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Wichita. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
