Accountant - accounts payable (Virginia Beach, VA)

Stonegate Pike Early Learning is an early-learning provider in Virginia Beach. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 13 people based in Virginia Beach. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around meal programmes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Virginia Beach, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
