Accountant - accounts payable (Virginia Beach, VA)

Ironwood Keystone Transit Planning is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for ridership counts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with ridership counts. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Virginia Beach. • We reply to every applicant.
