Accountant - accounts payable (Tucson, AZ)

Summit Timber Insurance is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for premium billing, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Claims teams work together and share what they learn. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to premium billing, and clear open items. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Tucson. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
