Accountant - accounts payable (Tucson, AZ)

Fernwood Vista Water Authority Group supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Tucson and nearby communities. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Tucson. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter reading, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around capital projects against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with meter reading. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Tucson. • We reply to every applicant.
