Accountant - accounts payable (Toledo, OH)

We are growing our team at Greenridge Thistle Markets and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around promotions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to shrink and waste, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with shrink and waste. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Toledo. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
