Accountant - accounts payable (Toledo, OH)

Nova Meadow Water Authority is a public water utility serving the Toledo area. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 20 people based in Toledo. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter reading, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around capital projects against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with meter reading. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Toledo, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
