Accountant - accounts payable (Tampa, FL)

Harborlight Bright Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Tampa and nearby communities, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Crews and office staff work closely together. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around capital projects against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with pipe repairs. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Tampa, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
