Accountant - accounts payable (St. Louis, MO)

Lumen Kestrel Learning Group runs classrooms and tutoring across the St. Louis area, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of about 402 people based in St. Louis. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around school calendars against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with student accounts. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in St. Louis. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
