Accountant - accounts payable (St. Louis, MO)

Silverline Cedar Inspection Services is an inspection company in St. Louis with field technicians and lab staff. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of about 936 people based in St. Louis. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client sites, and clear open items. • Track costs around field inspections against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in St. Louis. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
