Accountant - accounts payable (Spokane, WA)

Bluepeak Fern Environmental Services collects and processes waste and recycling around Spokane, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around recycling loads against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service complaints, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with service complaints. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Spokane. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
