Accountant - accounts payable (Spokane, WA)

Fernwood Cobalt Staffing is a Spokane staffing firm for warehouse, office and healthcare roles. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Spokane. What you will do • Track costs around temp assignments against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with candidate screening. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Spokane, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
