Accountant - accounts payable (Seattle, WA)

Cedar Forge Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Seattle, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 193 people based in Seattle. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service connections, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around usage data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Seattle. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
