Accountant - accounts payable (Savannah, GA)

Bright Kestrel Housing is a nonprofit housing provider in Savannah. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Savannah. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around waiting lists against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Savannah, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
