Accountant - accounts payable (San Jose, CA)

Redstone Sable Community Partners is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for food distribution, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Mission matters here, and so does looking after staff. What you will do • Track costs around grant reporting against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to food distribution, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with food distribution. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in San Jose, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
