Accountant - accounts payable (San Jose, CA)

Westbrook Rowan Environmental Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for weigh tickets, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 64 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around landfill records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with weigh tickets.
