Accountant - accounts payable (San Jose, CA)

Harborlight North Insurance provides coverage to households and businesses around San Jose, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with underwriting files. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in San Jose. • We reply to every applicant.
