Accountant - accounts payable (San Jose, CA)

Amberfield Yarrow Facilities cleans and maintains buildings for schools, offices and hospitals around San Jose. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around cleaning schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with contractor visits. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in San Jose. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
