Accountant - accounts payable (San Jose, CA)

Ironwood Ivory Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around San Jose, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 34 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around service connections against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter readings, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with meter readings. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in San Jose. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
