Accountant - accounts payable (San Jose, CA)

Bluepeak Oak Hospitality is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for food costs, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We work weekends and holidays and we make it fun. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to food costs, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around group events against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with food costs. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in San Jose. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
