Accountant - accounts payable (San Jose, CA)

Bluepeak Clear Freight is a San Jose logistics company with trucks, warehouses and dispatch, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to dock schedules, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around loads and lanes against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with dock schedules. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in San Jose. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
