Accountant - accounts payable (San Diego, CA)

Fernwood Lakeside Farms Group grows and distributes produce from farms near San Diego. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. Weather sets the schedule, and we plan around it. What you will do • Track costs around seasonal crews against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field records, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with field records. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in San Diego. • We reply to every applicant.
