Accountant - accounts payable (San Diego, CA)

Stonegate Timber Construction is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for change orders, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 52 people based in San Diego. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around permits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in San Diego. • We reply to every applicant.
