Accountant - accounts payable (San Diego, CA)

Bright Sable Press is a printer and publisher in San Diego serving local and national clients. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 39 people based in San Diego. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around press runs against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer orders, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with customer orders. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in San Diego, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
