Accountant - accounts payable (San Antonio, TX)

Stonegate Ivory Transit Planning Group plans bus and rail service for cities around San Antonio. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around route schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to survey data, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in San Antonio. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
