Accountant - accounts payable (San Antonio, TX)

Westbrook Wren Arts Center is an arts centre in San Antonio with a full calendar of events. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around volunteer programmes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with exhibitions. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in San Antonio, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
