Accountant - accounts payable (San Antonio, TX)

Fernwood Ashton Facilities cleans and maintains buildings for schools, offices and hospitals around San Antonio. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. Clear communication between supervisors and crews matters. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to supply orders, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with supply orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in San Antonio, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
