Accountant - accounts payable (San Antonio, TX)

Lumen Lantern Early Learning operates neighbourhood childcare around San Antonio. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of about 512 people based in San Antonio. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to tuition and subsidies, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around meal programmes against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in San Antonio. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
