Accountant - accounts payable (Salt Lake City, UT)

Bright Yarrow Banking Services is a regional lender in Salt Lake City with branches and a growing mobile service. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. We keep decisions close to customers and expect people to explain things plainly. What you will do • Track costs around fraud alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to branch operations, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with branch operations. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Salt Lake City, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
