Accountant - accounts payable (Sacramento, CA)

Clearpath Kestrel Housing manages affordable housing communities across Sacramento. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 44 people based in Sacramento. What you will do • Track costs around resident services against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to waiting lists, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Sacramento. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
