Accountant - accounts payable (Richmond, VA)

Bluepeak Union Inspection Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for test reports, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 176 people based in Richmond. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to test reports, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Richmond, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
