Accountant - accounts payable (Richmond, VA)

Silverline Union Civic Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for public records, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 37 people based in Richmond. What you will do • Track costs around case files against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to public records, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Richmond. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
