Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Harborlight Juniper Foods Group produces packaged foods at its Honolulu plant, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Food safety is non-negotiable and we train for it. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around cold storage against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to allergen controls, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with allergen controls. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Honolulu. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
