Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Stonegate Works grows and distributes produce from farms near Buffalo, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. We are a family-run business at heart. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to seasonal crews, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with seasonal crews. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Buffalo. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
