Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Northwind Forge Transit Planning helps transport agencies around San Antonio design routes and schedules, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service alerts, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around survey data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with service alerts. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in San Antonio. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
