Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Rivermark Energy delivers power and gas plans across the Dallas region, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 56 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Track costs around usage data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service connections, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with service connections. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Dallas. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
