Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Westbrook Lakeside Transit Planning is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for accessibility audits, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 56 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to accessibility audits, and clear open items. • Track costs around ridership counts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with accessibility audits. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Hartford. • We reply to every applicant.
