Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Highbridge Sparrow Transit Planning is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for service alerts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Work is collaborative and map-heavy. What you will do • Track costs around accessibility audits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Knoxville. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
