Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Cedar Juniper Inspection Services Group is an inspection company in Portland with field technicians and lab staff. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 95 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around certifications against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with field inspections. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Portland. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
