Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Ironwood Meridian Inspection Services tests and certifies buildings, pipelines and equipment around Raleigh, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 22 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with client sites. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Raleigh. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
