Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Bright Linden Inspection Services tests and certifies buildings, pipelines and equipment around New Orleans. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. Training and certification are paid for. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to equipment calibration, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with equipment calibration. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in New Orleans. • We reply to every applicant.
