Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Harborlight Mill Arts Center Partners is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for visitor services, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to visitor services, and clear open items. • Track costs around event logistics against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with visitor services. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Richmond. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
