Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

We are growing our team at Bright Mill Foods and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of about 491 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Track costs around customer specifications against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to production batches, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with production batches. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Madison. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
