Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Nova Juniper Facilities cleans and maintains buildings for schools, offices and hospitals around Birmingham, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 176 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Track costs around safety inspections against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to work orders, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with work orders. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Birmingham. • We reply to every applicant.
