Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

We are growing our team at Harborlight Sparrow Freight and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 18 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer tracking, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with customer tracking. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Wichita. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
