Accountant - accounts payable (remote)

Northwind Beacon Medical is a Des Moines company producing monitoring and surgical equipment. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around production lots against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
